Hello! This year marks our 15th year serving as the premiere organization in the Baltimore area for mothers of color. Our theme for the 2016 year is “Forever Mocha: Celebrating 15 years of Commitment to Sisterhood, Community, and Family.”
In the era of Black Lives Matter, it has become even more important that mothers of color connect and network with other like-minded mothers who wish to protect, guide, and mold future leaders. Mocha Moms, Inc. began on the premise of bringing together, supporting and celebrating mothers who have chosen either to stay home or alternative means of work in order to have more availability to raise their families. And that’s what make the Greater Baltimore chapter so unique: there are women in our group from all walks of life; those who are stay-at-home mothers, those who work full-time, part-time or remotely, and we even have several moms that are "Mochapreneurs". No matter our career path, one thing we all have in common is the desire for our children to grow up with a solid foundation and the confidence of knowing they have a strong support system.
We are extremely excited for this year of rejuvenation, where we’ll be re-launching many of our chapter’s beloved initiatives, including Wegman’s Wednesdays, First Watch Fridays, and Chick-Fil-A FUNraising nights, while also implementing some new activities such as Fit & Fab 5th Fridays and Books & Banter book club. We also host regular day and evening support groups, play dates, monthly Moms Night Out, Couples Night Out and more! We have consistently been an integral part of the Baltimore community through community service projects such as Boys Booked on Barbershops, and are looking forward to expanding our impact by partnering with Adopt-A-Road and continuing to carry out the national chapter’s Closing The Gap initiative.
Greater Baltimore’s members are more than just a social group-we may come into this chapter as strangers, but have all been fortunate to gain life long friends! If you are looking for a tribe of women you can laugh, cry, vent and share memories with, this is where you belong and we can’t wait to welcome you and your family with a warm, loving embrace! Now is the time to join. Membership dues are $50 for the year. Visithttp://www.mochamoms.org/ to join today.
